Folio program with advertising for Guynes Printing Co. on reverse. Very fine on textured cream colored stock with Paul Parham's name corrected in ink.
A joint meeting of the New Mexico Library Association and the Texas Library Association held a luncheon to honor José Cisneros, Carl Hertzog, Peter Hurd, and Tom Lea in 1977, and Hertzog designed the printed program and selected a textured paper. But when Hertzog made a last minute design change, the typesetter introduced a misspelling of the name of the President of the Texas Library Association (Paul Parham), and the program was printed with the error. The error was discovered the day before the luncheon. The correction and reprinting had to be done overnight, but there was no stock of the textured paper remaining. A substitute paper was used. The corrected program, though adequate, was not the beautiful product Hertzog had wanted. Lawrence Clark Powell delivered the speech at the luncheon, which was published in a special edition designed by David Holman (see item 232 herein for the Holman edition of Powell's speech and the following item for Hertzog's commentary on the program publication).
