            Weekly commercial newspaper, included here for its reporting on the Mexican-American War: “Late and Important From Mexico, Confirmation of Gen. Scott’s Victory-Total Defeat and Rout of the Mexicans.” This article gives a blow-by-blow account of the last battles and the beginning of armistice negotiations. This commercial rag caters to the plantation sector and is filled with ads of all sorts, including leeches, weird patent medicines, spirits, calico, and so forth. Of printing interest is the announcement of establishment of the New Orleans Type Foundry on Canal Street. ($30-60)
